About

Laureen is a writer, a professional editor (here and here), a scuba instructor, a beginning sailor, a traveler, a birth advocate, a blogger, a podcaster, a website manager, an enthusiastic geek enabler, and an obsessive researcher who’s chiefly focused on, and delighted with, her husband Jason, her sons Rowan and Kestrel, and her daughter Aurora. She’s a lifelong Californian, which lends a distinctive spin to both her ideas and her politics, and she’s discovered, in her peregrinations, that the world is far smaller yet far more fascinating than anyone gives it credit for being.

    Hi Laureen,

I just wanted you to know that you have convicted me. My husbands been working on me for years. I am so not a computer person (more on the physical side, if you could not tell), and have been able to write off my desire to put things out there because it takes the tech know how. I did not get to listen all of your session, I’d say about 3/4s, but it was amazing! I went back to my room and told my husband that I felt terrible that I had not just written out my birth stories and posted them out there, somewhere. That was the least I could do. So, on a personal note, thanks! On a bigger scale let me tell you that we LOVED you! You remember that I passed out the Conference evals at the beginning of the last session? Well, when we read them your name came up as a favorite speaker over and over again! Not only that, but you could see many people had filled out the evals and then went back in and added your name! You were a great speaker. Relaxed, funny, warm, well prepared. We really loved it. Thank you so much! Be sure to plan 2010. We want you back! Thanks, Heather Brock
