Sprouting

Published by ElementalMom at 7:48 pm under Uncategorized

We eat a lot of sprouts, on this boat. Not only are they little nutritional powerhouses, but they’re yummy finger food, they lend themselves to recipes well, they’re easy to store in the tiny storage space available on a boat, and, well, they’re fun. Just recently, the Sproutpeople, my favorite supplier, ran a sale on sprouters for children, so with my last order, I bought a few. The results were marvellous.
First, assembly.

Then, selection of seeds to sprout. You’re supposed to soak them first, but the boys played with them like sand for a while.

At that point, Aurora lobbied heavily for her favorite kind.

Seriously, wouldn’t that make you want to eat sprouts?

It took me two reads to realize these photos were INSIDE your boat. I swore they were taken in somebody’s house or something! Crazy catamaran people ;)

They could all get me eating grass out of their little hands (well, assuming it wasn’t wheat grass…).

    New kid pics again! Yeay!

My oh my, she’s getting so big. I’ll have to check into these sprouts. My kiddos love growing starters before we plant them outside. But we’ve not yet grown indoor foods, yet. However, a friend recently gave me a HUGE bag of wheat berries that I have to sprout for I *think* a week before mixing and baking. I really should get on this pronto — especially while we’re sitting at below zero temps with very little fresh foods (other than what they ship up from Mexico).
