God says, “This Boat”

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

Just got a call from Kim the Finance Goddess. All the paperwork has finally cleared, all the legal t’s and i’s have been dealt with, everyone’s happy, the boat is well and truly ours.
And now, as they say, is the rest of the story.
Turns out that two offers came in for the boat after ours [...]

Appreciating It for What It Is

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

So… we’re buying this boat. Yes, still buying. The paperwork’s a nightmare, and I’ll whine about it more when it’s over. But for now, it’s all about the logistics. You must have the right insurance. You must have a place to put her, on both ends of the trip. You must have this, you must [...]

WE GOT IT WE GOT IT WE GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I called and spoke to the man who OWNS the financing company… cause he was the only one there, cause of the snow and ice. He was really sweet, very enthusiastic, and said “look, I own the company, I know you, I know your boat, you ARE [...]

So Much To Learn

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

So as I sit here, still waiting to hear back from Kim the Finance Goddess, I’m trying to fill my time with other things. You know, distract my hampstering mind from the endless string of “what-ifs” it keeps trying to hop onto…
Thanks to Toast, I signed up for the LagoonOwners yahoogroup. Where they’re having an [...]

Pins and Financial Needles

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

I‘ve finally allowed myself to get a little more comfy with this blog, and go ahead and post bits about our adventure out of order. I go in these long stints of not writing, then it seems like there’s a million things to write about, but I’m inspired to write out of chronological order… bah. [...]

Just wanted to drop you a quick note about our weekend excursion to check out the boat. Short form is… we had a great time, we’ll be sending the report just as [...]

Not Feeling the Magic

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

Jason’s constant monitoring of Yacht World and Alexis’ dilligence results in another find, a 1996 Norseman-Voyage 43 named Magic, also in St. Martin. She’s lovely, she’s got pretty much everything we’re looking for. Jason had fallen in love with the Norseman floorplan (as had I; galley-up and nav up are hard to find in most [...]

Crazy in the Caribbean; not this boat either

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

So, Phil the Philosophical and his sidekick Alexis the Wonder Broker found another Cassamance to assuage our loss with. She was sitting in St. Martin, and she was lovely. I was immediately taken (OK, irrationally) with the wineglass racks prominent in the galley photos. Her owner was a Frenchman.
With Alexis’ help, we crafted an offer. [...]

God says, “Not This Boat!!”

Published by Laureen under Uncategorized

Phil the Philosophical found us a boat. A lovely boat. Her name is Rum Line, she’s a 45′ Cassamance by Fountaine Pajot. When Phil talks about her, his voice lifts. I am sold on that fact alone. Jason is fascinated by her lines, her reported sailing ability.
The only bummer is, she’s in North Carolina. And [...]
