Grateful for Rain

Everyone from NOAA to the Coast Guard is telling us that there’s a storm coming and it’s gonna be big:

Coast Guard: “Potent Storm” Approaching Bay Area

The U.S. Coast Guard is strongly recommending that Bay Area boaters avoid taking to the water early next week because of a storm that is expected to bring heavy rainfall and high winds to the region.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a “potent storm system” will reach the Bay Area as early as Monday afternoon and is expected to stay in the region until Wednesday morning.

The heaviest rainfall and strongest wind is expected to come to the region on Tuesday, with forecasts of wind gusts of up to 60 mph and rain amounts ranging from 1 to 4 inches.

That’s a whole lotta wind and a whole lot of rain, in case you can’t easily translate the number.

I’m grateful for many reasons. One, is that fresh water is dear, and getting more of it is a fabulous thing. Two, if I get my act together, I can try out my freshwater cachement system. Three, we’ll be able to was the boat without anyone filing a report of us wasting water during a drought.

Four… the weather is changing, folks. Sooner we figure that out and adapt to it, the better off we’ll be. This thing we’re getting is a remnant of Typhoon Melor. A tiny remnant. And we’re gonna get pounded.

Off to batten the hatches…
